Introduction to the League of Women Voters Description:
The Missoula League of Women Voters (LWV) is hosting an introductory meeting "Everything you've always wanted to know about the League of Women Voters" Wednesday, January 25, at 7:00 pm in the large meeting room of the Missoula Public Library. The LWV was founded in 1920 to provide non-partisan information about candidates and issues to women who won the right to vote in 1920. In the mid 1980s, the LWV changed its membership requirements to include men. Its on-going mission is to help keep democracy strong.

"From money in politics to maintain voting rights for all, the League of Women Voters has been a strong voice for democracy and a well-researched source of information on issues," said Nancy Leifer, Missoula League co-president. "The League is non-partisan; we do not favor or oppose candidates or political parties."

The introductory meeting will present information about how the League operates, what actions it takes to further its mission, current positions on key issues nationally and in the 2017 Montana legislature, and how to become involved. Coffee and cookies will be served.
