COMPUTER CLASSES:

MPL offers a computer lab dedicated to free computer training, including classes on basic computer and internet use, downloading and editing digital photos, and more. Seating is limited as we have only six computer stations available, so call for a spot today. For more information call 721-BOOK (2665).

JANUARY

9th Easy steps to eBooks 12:30-1:30 - This class is an introduction and overview of the eBook resources available at the library. The instructor will cover how to use various eReaders to access the library’s collection. Attendees are encouraged to bring their eReaders and any cords if they have them.
9th /14th WORD Basics 6:00-7:00 - An introduction to word processing including how to create a document, manipulate the text and font, use templates and a few fun tricks.
16th Cloud Computing 12:30-1:30 - (Cloud computing is using the internet for storing your digital information rather than your own computer) What is Cloud Computing? Why should I use it? How do I do it?
16th Intro to email 6:00-7:00 - Learn the basics of creating an email account, writing a message, including attachments, sending, and receiving message.
23rd Basic Web page design 12:30-1:30 - An overview of some of the communities and marketplaces that might fit someone's needs e.g. (Blogger, WordPress) and sales (Etsy, Amazon), the basic technology involved, including domain names and web hosting. We’ll look at iPage (the cheapest, good for blogs), InMotion (good for small business), and HostGator (free example of their website building interface) as possible services to consider.
23rd /28th Internet searching 6:00-7:00 - How to use the internet to effectively find what you are looking for; includes security tips.
30th EXCEL 12:30-1:30 - An introduction to the basic features of Microsoft Excel, a spreadsheet program designed for the Windows environment. Topics include: entering data & formulas and assumes the student has some experience with Windows and using a mouse.
30th Web Browser Smackdown 6:00-7:00 - Web Browsers IE, Firefox, Chrome- Learn about the differences between IE, Firefox and Chrome and decide which one is right for you.
